Introduction

In response, to an invitation by the Bishop of Johannesburg, to establlish Catholic Schools, for the education of the children of the parish of Victory Park.  The congregation of the Holy Cross Sisters and the De La Salle Brothers each founded seperate schools to cater for the girls and boys of the Parish until 1986 when the schools amalgamated to form a co-educational unit.

True to the founding mission of the original schools, De La Salle Holy Cross College provides a Gospel based education, expressed in the ideas and values incumbent in the codes of spirituality and vocation of the Holy Cross Sisters and De La Salle Brothers, to school-going boys and girls of Victory Park Parish and other Parishes as well as to school-going boys and girls of whatever cultural, social and religious background whose families respect and wish to and are able to be part of the Catholic-Christian type education provided by De La Salle Holy Cross College, which is an independent, fee-paying school under the auspices of the Bishop of the Diocese and registered by the Gauteng Department of Education.

In keeping with the ideals and values of the Gospels, De La Salle Holy Cross College strives to

• provide a human and Christian education for all learners
• encompass their spiritual and moral formation, academic preparation and social and cultural development in a non-discriminatory, community orientated and caring environment which recognises and  respects the dignity and rights of each individual
• foster attitudes of compassion, tolerance, concern for justice and service to others
• cultivate a welcoming stimulating and enriching atmosphere of peace, harmony and trust
• encourage a culture of learning conducive to individual and community development

De La Salle Holy Cross College provides its learners with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of academic, spiritual, cultural, sporting and church and community related extramural activities.
